Plot: Set against a sumptuous world of 18th century Italian high art and music, the story deals with two brothers, Ricardo Broschi and his younger sibling, Carlo. Blessed with the voice of an angel, he embarks on a glorious journey of music and passion. As a highly skilled performer with sensuously handsome looks, Farinelli quickly attains a quasi-mythical status in his own lifetime. But the jealousies caused by celebrity and the strained relationships between Farinelli and his brother as well as other artists of his time cast a shadow over Farinelli''s bright existence. And so, he chooses a life of exile in Spain, thus ending one of the most illustrious--and colorful--vocal careers in history.

Beautiful, lush, sumptuous...all words that can be used to describe various aspects of this film. My only issue would be that the love between Farinelli and the woman who would later be his wife was barely explored at all - they go from arguing and ignoring each other to later living with each other in Spain, she being ready to have 'his' child. I could've done with a bit more of his childhood as well.

Le hubiera dado las 5 de no ser por que la historia se aleja mucho de la realidad. Aun asi me gusta mucho y la recomiendo.

The colourful and uninhibited life of "il castrato" Farinelli and his brother Riccardo Broschi, two men who shared their music and their women. An operatic biopic with impressive production values and a dreamy score. Not as big as Milos Forman's Amadeus, but still, a picture with immense beauty and pleasant erotism.
