At first I thought the film was a good film. But after re-watching numerous times I have to give in and say that this is not only a good film, but a great tale about a family dynamic picked apart during the backdrop of World War I. If you enjoy period pieces (Gangs of New York, There Will Be Blood, Pride & Prejudice) you'll love this.

This movie is a serious well told story of a family in the period of WW1 and the love triangle between three brothers and a woman. It is a very dramatic and interesting movie with a well known cast which includes Brad Pitt; Aiden Quinn and Anthony Hopkins. It is a beautifully told epic story of the heart.

MCT:October 20, 2008Excellent movie with great cast and plot. Three brothers grow up on a farm and they all fall for the same woman. Over the years she works her way through them. At one point I wondered if she would go for the dad too! The scenery and inter-relationships are very interesting.

This movie is an all time fav of mine, not just because brad pitt is in it, but there is some really good actors too. I love the relationships between anthony hopkins (who is from my home town- Wales) & all of the sons, esp when the girl comes into it,The scenery is spectacular also.the music score complements the movie very well.enjoy it!!
